Field service
You dispatch the junior engineer to save money, then spend it on the phone call to the senior one.
Multi-manufacturer estates, fragmented documentation and knowledge unevenly spread across the team. FieldPal gives every engineer the same answer, and captures the report while they are still on site.
The reality
Operational drag, one callout at a time
A service business works across systems from many manufacturers, each with its own manuals, fault codes and procedures. The documentation exists, but it is fragmented across PDFs, laptops and paper copies.
Knowledge is unevenly distributed. Junior engineers are dispatched for cost efficiency, but complex faults trigger long diagnostic sessions and escalation to senior staff. Resolution slows, customers get frustrated, and experienced engineers who are no longer supposed to be on the tools get tied up anyway.
Then the reporting happens later, inconsistently, and often missing the detail required for compliance or warranty. Lost engineer time, higher labour cost, slower resolution, and no visibility into which faults keep recurring.
How teams start
Live in weeks, not quarters
There's no heavy IT project and no content programme.
-
01
Upload what you have
Existing manufacturer PDFs, support materials and internal documents go in as they are. Fragmented documentation is the normal starting point.
-
02
Pilot with a handful of engineers
A small crew runs live jobs through FieldPal while your leads watch the output quality. Nothing is bet on a big-bang rollout.
-
03
Roll out across the team
Templates, permissions and reporting clone to the rest of the operation once the pilot has earned it.
What changes
The two costs that come down first
-
Diagnostic time
The engineer asks out loud and gets an answer from your own documentation, instead of searching multiple sources manually or ringing a colleague who may not pick up.
-
Reporting quality
The record is built from what the engineer says at the job, so it arrives complete rather than reconstructed from memory in a van at six o'clock.
-
Senior engineer time
Fewer escalations means your most expensive people spend less of the day repeating answers they have already given.
-
Recurring fault visibility
Consistent structured records mean you can finally see which faults repeat, on which systems, and what actually fixed them.
Questions
What field service teams ask
- Does the report go into our job management system?
- Not yet. Today the report is reviewed and approved in FieldPal, ready for your service or job management system. Two-way integration with platforms such as ServiceNow and Microsoft Dynamics is in active development.
- Do engineers need a signal on site?
- For answers and forms, yes, for now. An engineer in a plant room with no signal can still record voice notes and video, which process once the phone reconnects. Full offline working is on the roadmap.
- What does a pilot cost?
- There's a two-week free trial anyone can start, with no card. After that it's licensed per engineer per month, with a lower rate as the team grows.
Pilot it with five engineers
Start the free trial, upload your manufacturer manuals and put FieldPal in front of a small crew. Judge it on the output quality before committing to anything wider.
